Percentage of Shareholders Attending AGMs

Although the uplift is small, it suggests a slow re-engagement of investors, and heightened interest in governance issues in some sectors. However, overall attendance still remains below pre 2020 levels, indicating that most shareholders continue to rely on voting and engagement channels outside of in person or virtual meeting attendance.
Meeting Attendance Across Indices
Attendance patterns across the ASX indices in 2025 reveal a noticeable shift in the makeup of AGM audiences, with shareholders forming a larger proportion of attendees compared to prior years. This marks a further step away from the 2023 season when visitors significantly outnumbered shareholders and continues the return to more shareholder‑driven participation first re‑established in 2024.
Across the S&P/ASX 100, shareholders represented 70.41% of attendees, up from 66.48% in 2024 and a dramatic shift from 2023, when they made up only 28.77% of participants.
The S&P/ASX 200 cohort shows a more mixed picture. While shareholder presence dropped from 66.74% in 2024 to 51.24% in 2025, it remains significantly stronger than the 28.00% recorded in 2023. This indicates that although the balance between shareholders and visitors varies year‑to‑year, issuers in this index continue to attract a broadly engaged shareholder base.
In the S&P/ASX 201+ segment, shareholder participation held relatively steady, with 60.17% of attendees being shareholders in 2025 compared to 62.27% in 2024. This stability follows a considerable rebound from 2023 (41.29%), highlighting consistent engagement among retail‑heavy registers and smaller issuers.
