2025 Update
2025 was another significant year for our teams at MUFG Corporate Markets, supporting clients across more than 700 events, 400 meetings, and 53 proxy campaigns in ANZ. As in previous years, our involvement extended well beyond operational delivery, with us continuing to shape industry standards and contribute to governance dialogue through a range of thought‑leadership initiatives, including the Joint Guidance Paper on AGMs Using Technology.
Looking ahead, 2026 will see MUFG Corporate Markets further strengthen our role with active participation in the ACSA Proxy Roundtable and the AIRA AGM, Proxy Voting and Shareholder Activism Conference, reinforcing our commitment to advocating for our clients and supporting best practice across the market.
Our partnership with Proxymity also deepened in 2025 with more than 342 client meetings announced through the platform, and over 39,571 votes processed. This collaboration continues to ensure institutional investors receive real‑time meeting communications the moment they are released to market, enhancing transparency, speed and engagement.
Throughout this snapshot there is extensive data and insights, with several key themes highlighted:
- In 2025, hybrid meetings remained the preferred solution for larger Australian issuers and in‑person formats continued to reclaim ground, often combined with webcasts to maximise accessibility.
- Digital participation is now firmly embedded with email delivery of meeting documents dominating, and integrated webphone/Q&A tools widely adopted.
- Voting behaviour reflects broadening support for remuneration, though dissent remains sharp where concerns arise, mirroring ongoing scrutiny of board accountability.
- Meanwhile, AI, cyber resilience and ESG remained the dominant thematic drivers of shareholder engagement.
Operationally, the importance of early engagement across our Meetings, Events, Registry and Campaigns teams has never been more evident. Coming together early not only enables a smoother meeting-day experience but also sharpens our insight into shareholder behaviour, voting sentiment and emerging risks, reinforcing strong governance and client confidence.
Our Meetings, Events and Client Relationship Teams look forward to supporting our clients throughout 2026 and continuing to deliver seamless, high‑quality experiences across every engagement.
